Designers Remix is officially signing the United Nations Climate Neutral Now Pledge as the first Danish designer brand.

With the core purpose of making fashion better and more sustainable, the Danish designer brand now teams up with the Norwegian climate company, CHOOOSE, to make their collections «climate positive».

While it’s difficult to understand what one kg of CO2 looks like, what we do know is that the 2.500 tons of CO2 we have balanced through our new investment in the Bac Lieu wind farm project in Vietnam will make Designers Remix’s Fall Winter 2019 collections «climate positive» --- as in, they are offsetting more CO2 than each item in the upcoming collections on average will leave behind across its production cycle. This way, every piece of clothing from the collection represents a tangible way of fighting climate change.

This United Nations and Gold Standard certified wind farm project allows Designers Remix to balance their collections CO2 footprint by delivering clean, renewable wind energy that decreases the reliance on fossil fuels.

Owner and CEO Niels Eskildsen, “We are working with sustainability on many different levels. Since our fabrics have a vast environmental impact in the production of each garment, our main focus is always to choose the most sustainable fabrics available. However, we are aware that any garment produced leaves a CO2 footprint, no matter how sustainably preferred the fabric is. This is a fact we can’t ignore and therefore we’re happy to announce this new «climate positive» initiative.”

For each Designers Remix style produced, they will balance out 50 kg of CO2, which is equivalent to one and a half times the CO2 emitted by a pair of jeans during its entire lifetime.

As a part of their ongoing sustainable journey the Bac Lieu wind farm project is focusing on UN Sustainable Development Goals no 7 “Affordable and clean energy” and no 13 “Climate Action”.

“Designers Remix brings a positive and action-oriented message into the fashion-sphere, therefore we think this collaboration is really exciting. Climate can also engage positively, and Designers Remix is taking lead in the industry with this project helping to raise awareness for climate action” says Andreas Slettvoll, CEO of CHOOOSE.

In total, Designers Remix will offset 2.500 tons of CO2 with their Fall Winter 2019 collections. The climate effect of their efforts equals over 23.500 fewer flights from Copenhagen to London, based on the UN flight calculator ICAO.
