Introducing SAF for private jets and group charter with Wheels Up

As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, global aviation services provider Wheels Up is introducing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into its customer-facing climate program. Customers can access and purchase SAF environmental attributes when booking a private jet or group charter services — enabling them to contribute to SAF adoption, regardless of their aircraft operator, departure airport, or direct access to the physical fuel.
By partnering with Chooose, Wheels Up is expanding its ability to provide carbon product offerings (or ‘indirect mitigation’ opportunities) — with SAF scope 3 environmental attribute supply from Delta Air Lines made available to scope 3 buyers for purchase and environmental benefit claims. This offering provides customers with a simple way to support SAF and help reduce aviation emissions while reinforcing Wheels Up’s commitment to sustainability.
Simplifying SAF transactions
Through the Chooose platform, Wheels Up efficiently manages its SAF program and makes it easy for customers to participate. Here’s how it works:
- Delta Air Lines flies on SAF and makes its scope 3 environmental attributes available for purchase within the Wheels Up SAF Program.
- Wheels Up Account Managers log into the platform and present customers with quotes while booking charter services.
- Customers determine the amount of SAF they wish to support, based on a percentage of their estimated flight emissions.
- Chooose automates the process of sharing detailed information regarding the physical SAF associated with the purchased attributes and delivers this information in the form of SAF certificates to Wheels Up customers.
- Wheels Up customers can claim the environmental benefits (emissions reduction) corresponding to their purchase.
In today’s world, it is impractical to procure physical SAF for specific flights — but by leveraging our software infrastructure and partner network, Wheels Up eliminates logistical barriers and ensures accurate tracking and claiming of environmental benefits associated with physical SAF use.
Engaging the SAF value chain
Chooose connects stakeholders across the value chain — from SAF suppliers through to distributors and scope 3 buyers — ensuring environmental attributes flow downstream with integrity.
By centralizing inventory management, emissions calculations, emission reduction calculations, automated retirements, and program analytics, Wheels Up is able to focus on customer engagement while operational complexities are managed behind the scenes, including:
- Seamless integration with Delta Air Lines’ SAF attribute supply for SAF transactions.
- Automatic emissions calculations aligned with Wheels Up’s preferred methodology and emission factors.
- End-to-end management of SAF attributes, from order placement to retirement and certificate generation.
For example, Wheels Up’s program accesses the SAF environmental attributes associated with the physical SAF that Delta Air Lines flies on, which Delta manages on the backend through Chooose software. This interoperability bridges customer-facing SAF programs with broader supply and usage — expanding access for aviation customers and ensuring transparency and consistency when different stakeholders collaborate across the SAF value chain.
“Partnering with Chooose has made it simple for us to offer a meaningful lower-carbon product offering to our customers.”
“Partnering with Chooose has made it simple for us to offer a meaningful lower-carbon product offering to our customers,” said Clive Chalmers, SVP Group Charter — UK & ROW at Wheels Up. “With direct access to Delta Air Lines’s SAF attribute supply and a fully integrated ordering process, all we have to do is log in and place an order on behalf of our customers. The Chooose platform ensures SAF attributes are correctly allocated, making it easy for our customers to contribute towards decarbonizing aviation.”
“At Chooose, we believe that deepening stakeholder collaboration across the SAF value chain is key to accelerating adoption,” said Joseph Beaudin, CEO at Chooose. “Our technology enables collaboration between SAF suppliers, aircraft operators that fly on SAF, aircraft charter brokers like Wheels Up, and travel buyers — ensuring that SAF environmental attributes are efficiently managed, distributed, allocated, and claimed. By expanding access beyond traditional participants, we’re helping scale collective impact.”
This program provides a powerful model for ecosystem collaboration around decarbonization within private aviation, demonstrating how technology can be leveraged to engage customers in SAF adoption and drive impact.
