A new, API-driven climate tool from climate-tech company CHOOOSE makes it easy to integrate climate options seamlessly into any customer experience. Leading travel enterprises already use the technology to enable travelers to address their carbon footprint.
CHOOOSE is a Norwegian climate-tech company building digital tools to make climate action part of everyday life and business. With CHOOOSE Connect, the company is introducing its API for climate that automatically calculates the carbon footprint of any consumer offering – and provides customers with the option to compensate for the carbon footprint of any type of purchase.
Leading organizations like Skyscanner, Santander, Lonely Planet, Wizz Air, Norwegian, and Heathrow Airport use CHOOOSE technology to implement climate compensation into their checkout, in-app, or anywhere they meet their customers.
The solution supports a broad range of carbon calculations, spanning from travel and shipping to finance and people. For global travel search companies like Skyscanner, the API integration means that they can automatically calculate a travelers carbon footprint based on the actual vessel type of fuel, travel distance, loading capacity, or air cargo.
From a selection of verified solutions, ranging from renewable energy, nature-based solutions, and sustainable aviation fuels, partners have the flexibility to select a climate solution to power its climate compensation program and optimize the portfolio over time.
To enable customers wherever they are, CHOOOSE Connect supports partners with secure integration in multiple languages, currencies, and payment methods.
With advanced analytics, the partners can track and optimize their program’s performance, giving a better understanding of how their customers respond to the climate program.
The solution also supports post-purchase experiences where customers can claim, track and engage with the positive impact they’re creating and learn more about their supporting projects.
Several airlines, airports, and travel operators are using CHOOOSE technology to make climate action accessible for their travelers, including Norwegian Air Shuttle.
Anyone booking a flight with Norwegian can compensate for their carbon footprint by supporting verified climate projects, as an integrated solution within their customer journey.
Through its partnership with CHOOOSE, Norwegian Air has become the first airline to be approved by the United Nations initiative ‘Climate Neutral Now’. The solution was launched in 2019, introducing a new way for the airline to address the pain points of traditional carbon offsetting programs. The partnership enables passengers to compensate for their specific flight itinerary directly within the ticket checkout process with one click. Since the launch, hundreds of thousands of travelers in more than 40 countries have already compensated for their carbon footprint using CHOOOSE-technology.
