The Swiss luxury watch brand Breitling knows that every second counts and partner with climate-tech company CHOOOSE to join the race against time to fight climate change.

Ever since 1884, the Swiss watchmakers have chosen quality and built professional instruments - not only for keeping up with time today - but for the generations to come.

Now, Breitling takes the commitment one step further by addressing its unavoidable carbon footprint by introducing a carbon offsetting program in partnership with CHOOOSE.

Across their Swiss headquarter operations, Breitling sources 100% renewable energy. The company is now addressing scope 1 and 2 emissions, which include direct greenhouse gas emissions from owned sources, and part of their indirect greenhouse gas emissions associated with headquarters originating travel and logistics.

The partnership with CHOOOSE is part of Breitling’s sustainability efforts to reduce their environmental impact.

Breitling has implemented several initiatives as part of their sustainability strategy, from producing striking timepiece straps from discarded fishing nets and nylon waste, creating reusable watch boxes made of 100% upcycled plastic bottles with more direct distribution leading to reduced emissions, and using pedal power by providing bikes for people in communities with limited transport options in partnership with Qhubeka.

The new, 100% upcycled packaging received the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label for its sustainable re-interpretation of the traditional watch packaging.

“Breitling continues to push the boundaries of innovation by implementing climate action as part of their core strategy. We’re thrilled to partner with a premium brand like Breitling to reduce global emissions and create better opportunities for those who are hit hardest by climate change.” — Andreas Slettvoll, CEO and co-founder of CHOOOSE.

To date, Breitling has offset 2,600 tons of carbon, supporting the International Small Group and Tree Planting Program in Uganda using the WeCHOOOSE-platform.

This combined reforestation and sustainable development project conducted by subsistence farmers combats the effects of deforestation, poverty, and drought by providing a long-term income stream that develops sustainable livelihoods. The project contributes to six of the UN Sustainable Development Goals improving both ecological values and social benefits.
