Chooose joins The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials

News updatesNews updates

Today, The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) announced the addition of Chooose to its membership. RSB is a collaborative network of global organizations guiding sector transformation to bio-based and circular models for over a decade. Its trusted and peer-reviewed sustainability framework, which is underpinned by its 12 Principles & Criteria, has been developed by the organization’s multi-stakeholder membership community. It is a uniquely robust and credible foundation for supporting innovative solutions to the ongoing climate crisis.

We’re especially looking forward to developing a collaborative relationship with Chooose, so that we can continue building an ecosystem approach to book and claim – grounded in the credibility and trust of RSB’s approach.
Elena Schmidt, Executive Director at RSB

“It’s my pleasure to welcome Chooose as our newest member. Their mission of bridging the gap between climate intention and action aligns well with RSB’s commitment to advance the just and sustainable transition to a bio-based and circular economy. At RSB, we’re especially looking forward to developing a collaborative relationship with Chooose, so that we can continue building an ecosystem approach to book and claim – grounded in the credibility and trust of RSB’s approach,” says Elena Schmidt, Executive Director at RSB.

Accelerating standards and supporting policy

As an official member, we’ll focus on collaborating with RSB to set standards and support policy discussions to boost the production, distribution, and accessibility of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through technological advancements — benefiting both people and the planet.

We recognize the critical role of SAF in achieving the aviation industry’s goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Although SAF can be used without modifications to existing aircraft or fueling infrastructure, its global production is currently below 1% of jet fuel demand, and it remains significantly more expensive than conventional jet fuel.

Uniquely positioned to make a difference

As a company powering decarbonization programs for leading airlines and cargo companies — helping enable our partners to scale their SAF programs — there is tremendous value in joining RSB. We look forward to contributing to the ongoing development of its sustainability framework and benefitting from a global network that provides access to key industry initiatives and policy platforms that will help shape future markets.

“Chooose is proud to become an RSB member, and we look forward to working alongside the organization to help decarbonize challenging sectors, particularly aviation. The focus will be on accelerating the commercialization of innovative technologies and scaling the demand and adoption of SAF while ensuring responsible sourcing of fuels,” said Andreas Slettvoll, CEO at Chooose.
