HK Express makes climate action more accessible across East Asia

HK Express has launched a new carbon program to help customers understand and address the carbon emissions of their flights. This initiative presents carbon emissions estimates during the booking process and offers the option to support high-impact certified climate projects. Customers can now easily learn about the environmental impact of their travel and purchase carbon credits when booking directly through the HK Express website.

Understanding carbon emissions

Utilizing Chooose’s digital solutions, HK Express’s Customer Carbon Program automatically estimates greenhouse gas emissions for each flight search during the booking process. This feature provides customers with a clearer understanding of their journey’s carbon footprint. With this knowledge, travelers can make more environmentally conscious decisions and support certified carbon projects.

Commitment to sustainability

As HK Express celebrates its 10th anniversary, the airline reaffirms its commitment to the Cathay Group’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. As part of this commitment, HK Express is modernizing its fleet, introducing 14 new Airbus A321neo aircraft by 2025. These new planes offer significant environmental benefits, including up to 20% reduced fuel consumption per seat, lower emissions, and extended flight range.

In addition to fleet modernization, the new carbon program presents another important step towards sustainability. By enabling customers to raise awareness of their flight emissions and contribute towards climate projects, HK Express is making climate action more accessible and encouraging environmentally responsible travel.
